An oral book report is a brief speech about a book that a student has read during the course.
As you may guess, you should not care about some writing issues in your oral book report. This fact makes such work easier for some students, and more difficult for the others.
“Is it possible to present a good oral book report without any preparations?” – you may wonder. Well, everything is not as frustrating as you may think!
Here is a little plan for you in case you have no ideas of how to present an oral book report:
- Present general information on the book your report is about: its title, author and date of publication;
- Start with the setting: where all the events take place, whether this place is real or not, etc…
- Point out the time: whether it is past, present or future;
- Introduce the main characters: only the most essential information matters;
- Tell about the plot: do not go into details! Just the most important facts should be mentioned;
- Add your point of view: whether the book impressed you or not. Why?

I think that this is a great way to prepare and Oral Book Presentation in the last minute. I’ve also got some other tips to help students with this:
-Students should prepare what their going to say on Cue Cards but in dot points so that they can focus more on talking directly to their audience and the teacher
-Students should also place their cue cards in order to avoid trying to look for the right cue card.
-Students should look at someone that they haven’t talked before, because this will avoid laughter during their presentation.
