A dissertation research proposal is what your dissertation writing starts with. It usually includes:
1. Dissertation introduction. The main idea here is to get straight to the point. This is not essay writing where you can let some creativity spill on the paper. This is a serious project where you are to present your personal resources. So first of all start with the main question. Summarize it and put in a wide context of its popularity today and the impact it will have on a specific field of study and research in future.
2. Statement of the problem. Give the definition of the problem you are investigating. This is a smooth continuation of the first section, and your goal is to focus on the rationale. Fancy way of saying, prove that the problem is worth investigating, that is has not yet been researched, but will definitely be helpful for those who work with the problem, and state the dissertation research questions clearly and logically.
3. Concepts. You didn’t waste time reading different sources. Now it is time to boast your knowledge and spill out the theory that you got acquainted with. After writing the information and main theses of the researches conducted before your own, state the terminology you are going to work with, and your own theoretical concepts.
- Dissertation methodology. Write a step-by-step guide of what you are going to do to find out the answer to the main question. It is especially important to tell why you think these specific steps will be helpful and effective.
- Bibliography. Always include all the works cited in order to avoid plagiarism accusations. And the earlier you start working on this part, the easier it will be to pull everything together in the end.
- Appendices. If you have tables, graphs, surveys and other supportive factual data, include it into the Appendices section.
