Cell Phones May Cause Autism

The article under consideration “Wireless Radiation in the Etiology and Treatment of Autism: Clinical Observations and Mechanisms” (2007) is taken from the Journal of the Australasian College of Nutritional & Environmental Medicine, Vol. 26, no.2, pp. 3-7.n

The article was written by Tamara J. Mariea (Internal Balance Inc, Nashville TN and Safe Wireless Initiative, Washington, DC) and George L. Carlo (Science and Public Policy Institute, Safe Wireless Initiative and The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Washington, DC).

The main idea of the article is the harmful effect of the wireless radiation which ray cell phones in particular. The authors provided a great work which was the investigation of the role of the mobile phones in the Autism causes, the data collection and the result representation which showed that mobile phones make their effect and cause some health problems, one of which is Autism.

Introduction

Modern world is known as the era of computer innovations and the technical developments which have occupied all spheres of life. These developments and innovations have brought a lot of changes in people’s life. Some people consider these changes are for good, but it is impossible to deny that these innovations still have some side effects which cause great problems with health.

Aim of the research

The author of the article there is a tendency for the last time that Autism cases have increased, and at the same time the rate of cell phones usage has also increased dramatically. The scientists have drawn a parallel and found out that these notions, Autism and cell phones, are interconnected.

The main aim of the research, described in the article, was “to assess mechanistically the role of wireless device associated EMR in the etiology and treatment of Autism” (Mariea & Carlo, 2007, p. 3). The part of the investigation was the elimination of cell phones from the place where autistic children received the cure.

Process of the research

The aims of the investigation design the process, according to which the investigation took place. The data collection was one of the main aims according to which the results were generated and the conclusions were made. The investigation took place in one of the clinics, where the data was collected.

One of the main conditions to visit children, who were on the treatment in the hospital, was the elimination of all wireless communication devices: the building was cleared of those devices and the visitors were told to turn off their mobile phones.

The results of the investigation

The collected data showed that the elimination of the cell phones and all other wireless communication devices give better results in treatment, children’s health had improved (e.g. the clearance of children’s organisms from the heavy metal toxicity).

These data were the reasons to suggest that cell phones are one of the reasons for Autism, especially in the combination with the other stimuli. The results showed that there is a great connection between Autism and cell phones as the part of the wireless communication devices. The scientists have proved that the organism toxicity with heavy metals is closely interconnected with the reasons and symptoms of Autism.

Strengths and weaknesses of the research

One of the main strong feature of the offered research is that it was one of the first researchers which made some connection of the wireless devices with the Autism, provided some researches and made results which does not help to cure Autistic children absolutely, but still help to make their life, better, easier and without extra complications.

The results of the research give parents hope to treat children this way, when all other traditional methods are tried and there are no results. The article gives the whole information about the research, its background, aim and process. The results are introduces in the forms of the tables, to perceive them easily, and there tables are supported by the explanation.

One of the main weakness of the research is that the experiment was provided not in the building of the medical facility in order to remove all the wireless devices which could cause some radiation. The explanation of such step is that it is impossible to remove all the wireless devises from simple hospital and the experiment conditions were very strict, so Autistic children had to be moved to the other place in order the experiment could be concluded.

Conclusion

The experiment which was described in the article had a very significant meaning, as that experiment was one of the first confirmations that there is a close interconnection between Autism and cell phones and other wireless devices. The results may be practiced by parents at home, but it is very important that the treatment should be provided under the doctor control.

The elimination of the cell phones from the life of the Autistic child may make the life of child easier and better, even with such hard disease. Autistic children are the part of the population who need the higher attention and the improvement in their life will make the life or parents and relatives happier for their boy/girl.
