Council of Biology Editors (CBE).
 
Use the following guidelines when preparing a list of references in CBE citation style:

1. Attach a list of references after the last page of your paper headed “References” or “Cited References”
2. Number the items consecutively in the order in which you mention the authors’ works in your paper. Invert authors’ names and use initials of first names, with no periods separating initials.
3. Begin each entry with the note number followed by a period and a space. Do not indent the first line of each entry; indent subsequent lines to align beneath the first letter of the previous entry.
4. Do not underline or use quotation marks for the titles of articles, books, or journals and other periodicals.
5. Abbreviate titles of journals and organizations.
6. Use a period between major divisions of each entry.
7. Use a semicolon and a space between the name of the publisher and the publication date of the book. Use a semicolon with no space between the date and the volume number of a journal.
8. For books, give the total number pages, followed by a space and “p.”

Two basic features of APA citation style:

1. In the text of your paper, include at least two pieces of information each time you cite a source:

• The last name(s) of the author (or authors);
• The date of the publication.

Include the page number, using the abbreviation “p.” or “pp.,” only when you quote directly.

2. At the end of the paper, include on a new numbered page a list entitled “References”, double-spaced and arranged alphabetically by author’s last names, followed by initials of other names, the date in parentheses, and other bibliographical information.

Bibliography list includes sources of the material utilized in the research or directly included in the body of the paper. It is important to use bibliography, since it is the only way to show your readers that you did not plagiarize and what you did was citing the material that is considered to be useful and important for the research paper you are working on.
 
Using research of others for the sake of own research is not considered to shameful, but, in fact, it is vice versa. The only important thing to be remembered in this case is to tell the others whose works you were using while preparing your own research. Read more

Every student must write essays, courseworks, custom dissertations, research papers, and all other types of assignments. To make an academic work a success, one can use the help of those who have already passed this boundary and further chose to follow the way of a scholar. It is not necessary and still rather useful to use the research papers of such people to make yours sound more confident and grounded.
 
You are certainly free to use any papers you need, but do not forget to format your paper and cite all external sources of information in order not to be accused of Plagiarism. At first, it might seem that citation style is not that important part of the text format. But different sciences have different citation styles and, when a wrong one is used, it might spoil all of your work. There are tons of citation styles and we will briefly introduce you to all of them.
 
The ACS citation style (American Chemical Society) is used when conducting and creating scientific works in the field of chemistry. APA citation style (American Psychological Association) is used mostly in social sciences. Read more
