Feature Article Writing: Proper Structure for Original Articles
Writing a feature article differs from writing an ordinary news article. Perhaps, the only common feature of these articles is that they are written in newspapers and magazines. Feature articles also contain some news though.
Writing a feature article presupposes that the author knows the subject well. Another reason for feature article writing is that the author is interested in the issue and is ready to analyze and discuss it with readers. Moreover, writing a feature article does not mean only sharing your personal views about the problem.
Thus, the newspapers and magazines contain feature articles. They are written in order to discuss some problem, specify the news. Do not think that writing feature articles avoids graphs, illustrations and statistics. Visual aids are an integral part of feature article writing, as they help to illustrate the author’s idea.
Structure of the Feature Article
The feature article writing must be structured in order to describe the notion in the best way. The structure of the feature article presupposes such elements as:
- Introduction. This part of the article introduces the reader, makes him/her interested in the discussion.
- Body. This part contains the genuine discussion. It suggests solutions to the problem, advises, and expresses the public opinion.
- Conclusion. This part of the feature article summarizes all issues.
It is important for writing a feature article to know the subject you are discussing. If you have a little knowledge of subject, it is better for you to develop your knowledge.
This may be done by a specific research conducted through Internet or in the library. Writing a feature article is aimed at creating a paper which is interesting to different people. This kind of paper means adding some interesting information to the news article; instructions and entertainment.
