Medical essay is a work written either on a medical topic or a work discussing some medicine-related issues. Medical essays display similarities to other types of academic essays, but also have some peculiarities in their writing.

The traditional topics of medical essays include the consideration of medical and health care issues, discussion of pharmacological advances, or analysis of the integrated social-medical aspects of the community. The brief list of possible medical essay topics includes:

Similarities

Medical essays usually have introduction, body, and conclusion, require all sources of information used to be properly acknowledged and formatted.
Differences
At the same time, medical essays differ from other academic writing types in the special knowledge they require students to have and the importance of the topic, medicine and health care, they focus on. To write a medical essay, a student should possess the knowledge that is not common information and should be used only in proper ways, while in other essays general knowledge of culture or literature is often enough.
